School has started...this means summer is officially over! I am actually excited for cooler weather. The only thing that changes in my wardrobe from summer to winter is changing my shorts to pants...the rainbows are never put away!

This morning the birds outside me window were quite active, couldn't resist opening the blinds and letting the cats have a peak. The lighting turned out the be beautiful and couldn't resit getting out my camera.

After a busy day we decided to mow the lawn. Surprisingly, I have never mowed the lawn so I was actually excited to try it out. Everything went well and we even had a fantastic sunset to end the day.

Found an idea on a website that I visit often. Thought I would give it a try, I used a small LED flashlight I use for work and a laser pointer, the manual setting on bulb using the smallest aperture...oh and my roomie :) It didn't turn out as expected but maybe I will give it another try.

Today was to first day in awhile that my roommate and I were home together all day so we decided to go on a little adventure. We found a short hiking trail near us and headed out...great way to spend my day off!

I finally got all my books in this week...and can I say how excited I am for this semester! It doesn't feel like school anymore, I guess that's a good thing.

Not the best picture quality lately...but it's been late nights at work. Things will get better soon :)

Today my lovely roommate agreed to go out with me...did not get too many shots in, way too hot!

Visited the local candy shop where my parents live...but got in trouble for taking pictures and was asked to leave.

So...I was a slacker and didn't get the camera out yesterday. Had to pull from my files. Hopefully this won't happen again :)

From the vineyard to the ocean yesterday...from the redwoods to the river today. This is why I love California!

17:365

Today I decided to head to work with my dad and brother. I was amazed at the beauty of the land where they are planting a new vineyard. After a long day in the dirt we stopped by the ocean to cool off and enjoy more of God's beauty.

Today was a bit of an interesting day to say the least...took the camera out for a few minutes but did not have the attention to take anything I really enjoyed. So I am pulling from a photo shoot I did about a month ago. It's interesting how you can initially go through pictures and not like certain shots but go back through them after some time and really take a liking to there... here is one that I wasn't very found of in the beginning but there is just something about it now that I enjoy.

Happy 4th Birthday big guy!

Today I ventured out downtown to get a new lens cap and found a few little "treasures" along the way...

I've been tired the past few days, and you can tell by my last few posts. All of them are from things around the house. Since today is no different...here are a few more.

12:365

The past few nights were the yearly meteor showers that last through the summer and I was wanting so badly to be able to experiment with long exposures...but I don't have one important piece of equipment, a cable release. So since that idea went out the window quickly, I decided to play with some candle light instead.

Today was also a sad day, a very tragic end to a life. Last night I took out my lovely D90 into the front yard to take some shots and after I got what I wanted, came back inside. This morning I noticed it was missing something...its lens cap. I looked everywhere but could not find it. I began to worry, thinking about how I wouldn't want my little D90 to get a boo boo. Not having much time to look around I loaded myself and D90 into the car and headed out. Soon after pulling out of my driveway and picking up speed, I saw something familiar...LENS CAP has found its way home!!! As soon as I got excited that I had found it, it seemed to freeze in mid air with its name, NIKON, dead center to say here I am, its me...it flew right over the windshield and was lost in the great abyss of the open road.

I couldn't help myself but laugh...here's another item to add to the wish list!

11:365

Every night I pull into my drive way after work, I am so focused on getting into the house and relaxing that I have seemed to miss the little characteristics of my house. For some reason tonight, I noticed a Lime Tree as well as how neat our house numbers looked with the light hitting them. Each day seems harder to find something new but I just need to remember to open up my eyes, even trying to find something new in something so familiar.

So today I have decided that along with my picture a day...I will read scripture each day as well. So here is a bit of what I studied today.

It's late...I'm tired...and this was the first thing I saw when I walked in the door after work tonight with my camera in my hand.
If you don't know anything about TOMS you should really check them out.

My cards are in! My amazing boyfriend did a wonderful job designing them, and I could not be happier. Here is to being one step closer to actually being a working Photographer.

7:365

My post today is for my "two little survivors".

As I was driving downtown this morning to the bank, I passed the area of town with all the medical offices and drove past a Cancer Survivor Memorial. My dad is a 22 year survivor and my mom is getting ready to start her Chemotherapy treatment. When people talk about Cancer, I have such a positive outlook. My dad had a five percent survival rate, and my mom's surgeon told her that in all his years of practice, she is the sickest patient he has ever had.

These two pictures remind me of the love and tenderness that is passed between a family when you are faced with great struggle. You grow closer to the ones you love when nothing but life matters. In struggles everything is stripped, all you have left is love. With each struggle, you step through different stages which lead you to something new. Rely on nothing but faith and love and you can get through anything with your family by your side.

Love you Mom and Dad!

So today on my way back home I decided to stop in at Railroad Square to take a few shots of a cute little boutique. They turned out to not be exactly what I wanted...but I ended up finding these little gems on my stroll around the streets.

I thought this was really unique painted on the side of the building. Glad I got this shot in...right after I took it, a huge work truck parked right in front of it. Sometimes my environment does not always cooperate with me! :)

Luckily my parents live in one of the most gorgeous counties in Northern California, so I decided to take advantage of "magic hour" for once. I also convinced Kate to come along with me to have a little photography fun (don't know what I am going to do tomorrow when I go home and don't have my trusty sidekick to accompany me!).

4:365

Today Kate and I ventured into my favorite city...San Francisco. We went for an evening of wine, food and cake pairing...if you want to speak to my heart you will wrap those three things up in a nice little package. You could say I was pretty excited...until we showed up for the event and we were five, may I repeat, five people away from getting in.

Since we did not get in, we decided to go to dinner at my favorite little Italian spot in the city.

3:365

Today as I headed out the door I knew exactly where I would be taking my picture of the day. Every week as I drive to my parents I pass this hill side that has a yellow flower growing on it and I always tell myself I need to stop. So today I decided today would be the day. When I turned onto the old country road I noticed that there was only a little strip of the flowers left. I guess that teaches me a lesson that when I see something I really just need to make time and stop right then and there!

Since it was not as neat as I remembered I roamed around and took a few other shots.

2:365

As I was driving to church this morning, I started thinking about where I would go to take my daily picture and once again...hello Day 2! As I was just a few feet away from the church driveway, I saw these amazing flowers and since I was running late, I decided to stop by after service. So for now on, I will not worry where I will capture my next picture. If I just slow down and open my eyes something will come up.

Say hello to my new friend Mr. Spider. I don't think he was very happy with me accidentally messing up his web as I captured a few shots. He was very nice though to let me capture a few of him.

This is my favorite of the day !

As you can tell, it's only day two and I have already posted more than one picture a day...so really I think it will be "Pictures, not Picture; of the Day"

Have a wonderful Sunday!

Few little randoms...

Was going through some emails today and stumbled upon a few pictures I emailed myself...I have to be at work in 45 minutes but I am trying to avoid getting ready; so I thought I would put up a couple that I liked.
